Bio

My name is Yoojin Cho. I’m a communications professional working in Austin, TX.

I’m thrilled to be back home in Texas after being away for about 10 years.

Before starting my current job as a public relations professional in 2020, I worked as a TV reporter.

Here in Austin, I covered President Donald Trump’s visit to Apple’s manufacturing facility, the disappearance of an Austin mom and her infant daughter, Austin’s homeless crisis, and the city’s booming housing and commercial real estate market.

I moved to Austin from Charlotte, North Carolina. During my 2.5 years there, the Queen City saw its fair share of major breaking news — a wide range of stories including, but not limited to, Keith Scott’s shooting death that led to riots and protests, 2016 presidential candidates campaigning in both North and South Carolinas, and the fallout that followed House Bill 2 (a.k.a the bathroom bill). My station also covered the deadly Charleston Church shooting.

Before Charlotte, I worked at WWLP 22News in Springfield, MA.

In Massachusetts, I covered the Boston Marathon bombings, the Sandy Hook shooting, MGM’s bid to build a casino in Springfield, a triple murder trial involving Hell’s Angels members, and the sudden closing of a hospital in the Berkshires.

It was a wild journey working in TV news, but my journalism career actually started in the print industry — at a newspaper on Martha’s Vineyard!

Right after graduating from Boston University, I started working on the Vineyard as a video journalist and web coordinator for the Island’s weekly paper, The Martha’s Vineyard Times.

There, I got a chance to serve as a local pool member for the White House Press Pool and covered the First Family’s vacation. I helped to grow the paper’s digital footprint and developed strategies to expand its reach using social media.

I grew up in Plano, Texas. I was born in Seoul, South Korea.

I graduated Cum Laude with degrees in broadcast journalism and international relations from Boston University. I’m pursuing my master’s degree in mass communication at Texas State University.

When I’m not out looking for stories to tell, I love trying new restaurants, jogging, kickboxing, cheering on my favorite Dallas (and sometimes New England) professional sports teams, and spoiling my pup, Dobby.
